PENAPH has been asked to lead a mini-symposium on participatory epidemiology by the organizers of the 13th International Symposium of Veterinary Epidemiologist and Economists (ISVEE) to be held in Maastricht, The Netherlands. )Information on the conference can be found at www.isvee13.org).
The conference organizers received over 14 abstracts that involved participatory approaches to epidemiology and requested that the PENAPH abstract form the basis of a lead presentation that describes the field of participatory epidemiology and PENAPH’s work. This will be followed by the presentation of a selection of 6 abstracts that include new and exciting applications of participatory methods in epidemiology. Thereafter, there will be a moderated discussion where all speakers participate. The mini-symposium will take place on Tuesday, August 21 2012 at 2 PM. Hope to see you there!
Good idea. Perhaps this subject should feature highly in this coming ISVEE event. Importantly papers or participants from LDC should be invited and present their case studies, expriences and other pron and cons of PE. The issue at stake which I always find difficult is intergrating PE into national competent authories disease surveillance system. More advocacy, lobbing and policy dialogue is required
